Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS. Game 3: CBDDeveloper Epic Games has. I got overwhelmed when he pulls constant double triggers. Game 2: Reverse Daiyusha I was suddenly overwhelmed during his second turn when he attacked with a 14k Daiheart, I went for a 1 pass (I had no other cards to guard with), he checks a critical trigger, and suddenly I was facing a 13K Reverse Daiyusha. ![]() Linux Gamers Group: Matrix Space / home roomThe future is phones, tablets, laptoplikes, dongles, and, as OP points out, streaming. There will still be desktops and laptops, and we're specifically talking about the PC market share. We know spam when we see it and will delete it.Lots of useful information can be found in our wiki: This means things like repetitious posting of similar content, low-effort posts/memes and misleading/exaggerated titles on link posts. We all need to support each other to help GNU/Linux gaming grow.Spam will be deleted. If it's a link post, think about writing a comment to tell us more - the more you engage with us, the more we like it. If you've ported your game to Linux or created some GNU/Linux-gaming-related content (reviews, videos, articles) then, so long as you're willing to engage with the community, please post it here. It "had a window" to break through and eliminate the PC and it never did (see what I did there?)PC gaming is going nowhere, and streaming will never be able to replace locally-running games. It was supposed to have happened by now. People have been claiming that would happen for years and years. Are irrelevant.Yes those things will grow in influence/popularity, but they will not eliminate the PC market. So phones/tablets/dongles/etc. If Deck is a success but sells only 2M for first year, it will likely sell more for remaining two years. That's nothing.Nintendo Switch sold more than 10M in it's first year. Even if the Steam Deck sold 5 million units (which is incredibly optimistic), Linux would only have about 6% of the gaming market. There are inherent, laws-of-physics-based limitations to streaming that are going to keep it pretty much stuck as a medium. This is preposterous. Streaming is for people who for various reasons don't have access to the hardware needed to run the games they wanna play. So I wouldn't be surprised if desktop grows with 0.5% in three years if not more.6% is enough to get about three more AAA releases a year. So as Linux gaming grows more people can and will make a case for the platform. Deck's success will make desktop gaming grow too.LTT Linux video has been viewed 1.4M times. The Nintendo Switch is a mass-market lower-cost device that's targeted at just about everyone that plays video games. They have completely different target markets and they occupy two different pricing tiers. They're nothing alike aside being handheld gaming devices. I can imagine a company like System76 investing more knowing Linux is heading upwards.Comparing the Steam Deck to the Nintendo Switch is so ridiculous. With Deck succeding and all other I mentioned previously, and factors like streaming doesn't disrupt the momentum.Reaching around 10% is pretty good for more companies to start selling machines with it preinstalled, at least for gamers. 10%, 20, 50? I think it can reach 10% without preinstalled machines being sold at Walmart/Best Buy. Market Share isn't the only thing that matters. But even if it did that's definitely not "significantly more" AAA support. No it won't. Because it would be 4-5 years from today before we saw those extra AAA games, and by then the Steam Deck wouldn't even be able to run them hardware-wise. Especially since the Steam Deck wouldn't be able to run them. Even thinking it would get us 3 more AAA games a year is pretty ridiculous. Since most of them are techies and not economics majors, they don't have the slightest idea about all the insane complexities that make up the issue at hand, and they think in terms that are far too simplistic, which is why they're so often flabbergasted at why their predictions don't come true. Probably more.I've noticed a huge problem with many in the Linux community when it comes to topics like this. Then there's the fact that MacOS is a closed ecosystem that doesn't have multiple "distributions." We would need more than double MacOS's market share to get the same treatment. MacOS also has one of the largest not just tech companies, companies period behind it, in Apple. And when it comes to Mindshare, MacOS FAR surpasses Linux. Brace For Impact Epic Games Software And GamesMeanwhile Proton is making games playable on Linux and paving way for native support by building market share, and Valve is going to make SteamOS free for other portable PC makers.Except Deck is likely to succeed. Suppose they do help Linux but at cost of undermining local releases why would you want that to happen? You'd be trading general Linux support for a streaming dominated gaming future. Moreover Stadia hasn't come close to helping Linux, and they run Debian. So whether these services help Linux ecosystem in general because platform is part of their server infrastructure, they are bound to replace local releases which is key to Linux desktop growing. Gaming is gateway to all around support.Netflix and Stadia will undermine local support. I'd go as far and say the level of growth Valve has brought to Linux gaming is unprecedented. I would wager Netflix won't be any different.Without Netflix and Stadia, with Valve's commitment, Linux is likely to get more software and games support. Templates for mac mailI believe Linux with Valve will succeed. They can just say "use Stadia to play our games".I dont think Stadia succeeding will benefit Linux as much as people may think. Even if they dont there is not shortage of developers who don't care enough about Linux to make their games available. Its plausible they could restrict developers, as games being available on Linux is detrimental to Stadia. Market share rise as result.Google has signed exclusivity deals. And its not just because Deck is a good product but Deck support will bleed over to desktop Linux, improving desktop for gaming too. Stadia builds marketshare for Google platform and leads to exclusivity.
